Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts Fee Schedule
The Prothonotary's Office is a dual function Row Office that includes the Prothonotary and the Clerk of Courts. The Prothonotary handles Criminal, Civil and Juvenile actions. These actions are filed, docketed and indexed in this office. Civil Actions include trespass, assumpsit, equity, ejectment, mechanic's liens, stipulation against liens, plus filing of secured transactions, insurance bond financial statements and notary registration.
The Prothonotary is elected for a four-year term of office. The next election for Prothonotary will be in 2011.
The Clerk of Courts has charge of all criminal filings, exhibits, witnesses and jurors. Administering oaths, certifying legal documents, processing passports, filing State and County reports and distributing fines and costs collected are more duties of the Clerk of Courts.
