The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for the collection of delinquent real estate taxes for all areas of Juniata County. These taxes consist of County, Township, Borough and School District Real Estate Taxes.
Property Owners who do not pay their taxes to the Township or Borough Tax Collectors by December 31st on their tax notice are reported to the Tax Claim Bureau for further collection. The Property owners are notified by Certified Mail and are requested to contact the Tax Claim Office in order to satisfy the account or to make payment arrangement. A penalty is assessed to each tax bill once the Tax Claim Office has been notified of the delinquency.
Should property owners fail to comply with the payment of taxes to the Tax Claim Bureau, the property will be sold at a tax-sale to be held in September of each year. The monies collected are returned to the appropriate taxing body.
